Christian Furr

Appointed by the Queen in 1995 to become the youngest artist to officially paint the British monarchs portrait, when he was only 28 years old. The portrait was commissioned by the Royal Overseas League and hangs in their St James collection. Christian Furr has been invited by members of royalty and celebrities to paint their portraits, including the royal couple Thomas van Straubenzee and Lady Melissa Percy, American burlesque star Dita von Teese , Roman Catholic Cardinals and bishops and the late Saudi Crown Prince, Prince SultanBin Abdul Aziz al Saud.

In June 2004 at the House of Commons he was awarded the Association of Colleges Gold Award (2004) in recognition of his outstanding contribution in the field of art . Former winners of the other British stars such as Jamie Oliver, Betty Boothroyd and Jimmy Choo.

His work has been displayed in the Saatchi Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Royal Society of Portrait Painters and The Royal Watercolour Society. He is a member of Chelsea Arts Club, Hotel Cafe Royal, Groucho Club, Eccentric Club and the former Colony Room Soho. Furr's book The Lost Art was published in May 2008. He has curated many high profile art exhibitons and events for various charities including 'Save Wild Tigers' in 2015

In 2013 Furr had a show of neon artworks created with the late Chris Bracey entitled 'The Staying Alive Neon Collection'. The show received critical acclaim in the British press including The Independent.

In 2013 Furr was appointed to the board of the British Inspiration Awards. In 2014 he was appointed to the Artists General Benevolent Institiution at the Royal Academy. His work features in prominent collections globally including Hotel Café Royal and 45 Park Lane - the Dorchester Collection, London

2005 – The Big Paint, Robinsons – Robinsons commissioned the artist to produce a commemorative work of Art featuring Tim Henman and Fred Perry for Wimbledon. The queuing public recreated the image on a giant 16ft x 9ft canvas at Wimbledon. ‘The Great Draw’ won The Best Award for ‘Best & Most Effective Long Term Communication Campaign’ at the MCCA Awards (Marketing Communications Consultants Association) 2006
